It’s Easier Than Ever to Catch ‘em All With Pokémon Sun and Moon

It’s Easier Than Ever to Catch ‘em All With Pokémon Sun and Moon

We’ve got more details of Pokémon Sun & Moon, including some enhancements to collecting, and more details of the new region that the game takes place in. Thanks to new details given by Pokémon Company International Company recently, we now know that the games will take place in the new Alola region: a group of islands with four tropical and one artificial.

The new region will feature a whole stack of Pokémon not previously seen, including the two new legendaries that we gave details on earlier. The main character that the player chooses will be a new citizen of the islands, with their adventure unfolding as they meet the people and see the sights of this beautiful new world as soon as they arrive.

One of the first people that players will meet is the game’s new professor, Professor Kukui. The professor is passionate about his research into Pokémon moves and has sometimes taken direct hits from Pokémon if there was something to be learned from it. His assistant Lillie is also central to the story and you will learn more about her as you play through the game.

Regular players will of course be familiar with The Pokédex. For those who aren’t, this is a convenient tool that records information about the Pokémon that players see and catch during their adventure. In Pokémon Sun and Moon, Professor Kukui provides a special Pokédex known as the Rotom Pokédex. It is inhabited by Rotom, a Pokémon with the power to reside in various electronic appliances. The Rotom Pokédex does much more than record Pokémon info—it has its own personality. Besides showing the player’s current location and their next destination, the Rotom Pokédex also provides advice on where to go next, based on the conversations players have with other characters.

To aid in catching your Pokémon, there’s a new function in the form of a QR Scanner. This allows players to see information about Pokémon when they scan QR Code patterns. By scanning in special QR Code patterns, fans can register Pokémon of the Alola region to their Pokédex and find out where they live. If they scan in the QR Code for a Pokémon that they haven’t yet caught, players can check its habitat and search it out.
