When the July 2019 PlayStation Plus titles were announced, Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 was slated to be one of the two games that PlayStation Plus subscribers would be receiving. However, a surprising last minute change saw PES 2019 being exchanged for Detroit: Become Human Digital Deluxe Edition, which also includes Heavy Rain.
It would be reasonable to assume that Konami would have been aware of their game being pulled from the months offerings ahead of time, but according to a Konami spokesperson this wasn’t the case. In a short statement, the spokesperson told Gamespot “This decision was made by Sony and so please make an inquiry to Sony.”
This news shines an interesting perspective on the ethics behind the PlayStation Plus service, and how companies may end up getting burned if Sony decides to make last minute changes. It may also have an adverse affect on Konami’s willingness to collaborate with Sony’s PlayStation Plus titles in the future.
Detroit: Become Human Digital Deluxe Edition and Horizon Chase Turbo are available to download now for PlayStation Plus subscribers until 5th August.
