Legends of Runeterra - The League of Legends CCG Announced For PC and Mobile
Riot Games shows its hand with the announcement of Legends of Runeterra, a free-to-play strategic card game set to rival Blizzard Entertainment's colossus, Hearthstone.
When taken alongside the simultaneously announced mobile MOBA: League Of Legends: Wild Rift, it's clear that Riot Games is taking no half-measures when it comes to tackling the mobile market. The game's cards are partly based on the almost 150 League of Legends champions, although even the most die-hard League player will be surprised by the range of new characters and allies coming to flesh out the game's lore.
Unusually for a free-to-play game, Legends of Runeterra will have no paid loot boxes. Rarer cards will be available to purchase with real-world money, but blind loot boxes will be given as rewards for free.
Legends of Runeterra is available for pre-registration now at: www.playruneterra.com.
It's set to release for PC, iOS and Android some time in 2020.
