LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Gets a Release Date and Overview Trailer

We finally know when the much anticipated LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be coming from a galaxy far far away onto our consoles and PCs.

The 5th of April is the day that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is releasing, we know this courtesy of a new gameplay overview trailer released by Warner Bros. Games, TT Games, the LEGO Group and Lucasfilm Games. The title will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. This newest entry into the catalogue of LEGO videogames looks to be the most visually stunning yet. Along with an overhaul in gameplay and making this the most expansive LEGO game to date, things are starting to get exciting in the lead up to release day.

The trailer itself is six minutes long and offers an in-depth look at different aspects of the game such as updated combat mechanics, the vast galaxy to explore and the wide range of upgrades available. Players will get the chance to relive the epic saga for themselves in the most immersive way possible. Better yet, players can choose which trilogy they want to begin their journey with and go from there.

The combat has been overhauled for this game, players can experience iconic battles like never before, whether they choose to pick up a trusty blaster as a stormtrooper or wield a weapon from a more civilised age as a Jedi Knight. Updated blaster controls allow players to fire with precision and also use cover to even the odds in a skirmish. While wielding a lightsaber players can chain together combos, counter oncoming attacks and utilise the power of the force for a fluid combat experience.

The galaxy is wide open for exploration, in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, players can bounce from system to system using the galaxy map, allowing them to chart a course through each and every trilogy. Space travel takes on a life of its own, not just being reduced to a loading screen. Players can engage in heroic detours and intense space battles while piloting some of the most iconic ships from the films, the Millennium Falcon and the Slave One to name a couple. During space exploration players have the choice to continue along the main story or take part in thrilling side quests across the galaxy.

Players are rewarded for their exploration as they discover Kyber Bricks which unlock new features and upgraded abilities across various character classes. These classes include Jedi, Hero, Dark Side, Villain, Scavenger, Scoundrel, Bounty Hunter, Astromech Droid and Protocol Droid. Play as legendary characters, with over 300 to unlock and play as in total across the films, and explore in free play mode for interesting deviations from the stories you know and love. The final seconds of the trailer also revealed that LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga will have a mumble mode, an option for fans of the original LEGO Star Wars games that can be toggled on and off to replace all voices with some good old fashioned mumbles!

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is now available for digital pre order, those that do pre-order the digital edition will receive early access to the Trooper Character Pack on launch day. If you don’t pre order though don’t worry, the pack will be available for a month after launch for those that purchase the Character Collection (Season Pass). Digital buyers can also unlock the Classic Obi-Wan Kenobi as a playable character. The physical version of the Deluxe Edition will include an exclusive LEGO Star Wars mini figure of Luke Skywalker holding Blue Milk.
