Mighty No. 9 Delayed Again

Mighty No. 9 Delayed Again

Fans of Mighty No.9, the Kickstarter-funded Mega Man spiritual successor are set to be disappointed once again. The game was funded in September 2013, with a view to an April 2015 release date but that was never reached, with a new release date being set late last year. Sadly, that date will now also not be met.

"Unfortunately, we have an announcement that will be very disappointing to all of you. In preparation for the February release of Mighty No. 9 we have been working hard with our partners to resolve any network issues and porting work necessary to publish Mighty No. 9 on the various platforms. However, the issues relating to the network modes were more critical than expected, and it has become apparent that we will need to delay the game from its February 9th release date. We have been working up until the very last moment to resolve these issues in order to make the February release, but it has become clear that we no longer have enough time to fix the issues and have everything prepared for release."

The reason for the delay is being cited as issues with online modes. This was the issue that was previously being cited as reasons for the original delay. Comcept are clearly keen to make the experience perfect before launch. Whilst this is commendable, it's likely to upset a few people who funded the game as it's now two and a half years since they paid for it and they don't have a full game to play.

A confirmed new release date has not been set, but creator Keiji Inafune has stated that Spring 2016 is a realistic expectation. It's another blow for a game that has a large following waiting for its arrival, hopefully our next article on the game will bring you a full release date. If you want to read the full open letter from Inafune, then you can read it on the game's Kickstarter page.
