Monster Train 2 Announces First Gameplay DLC: Destiny of the Railforged

Developer Shiny Shoe and publisher Big Fan Games (a publishing branch of Devolver Digital) released Monster Train 2 last year to massive success. Receiving the prestigious Overwhelmingly Positive label on Steam for having 95% positive review ratings (from 7,344), it's been a successful sequel release since its launch last year in the 21st of May 2025. Now, eight months after the release of the original title, the team has launched an all-new DLC featuring gameplay elements for players to take advantage of. Titled Monster Train 2: Destiny of the Railforged, it's a new excuse for those who finished their experience across the roguelike deckbuilder to revisit it once again.

In a collaboration trailer shared on the official YouTube channels of Big Fan Games and DevolverDigital, the team showed off the upcoming DLC. Here, we got a brief look at what players can expect to undertake if they join in on the DLC fun.

Here's what you need to know about Monster Train 2: Destiny of the Railforged DLC:

  • A new clan, Railforged.
  • An all-new game mode named Soul Savior.
  • A crew of new bosses to challenge in any order, getting cursed with each foe slain in exchange of increasingly powerful rewards.
  • New Souls to add to cards based on the bosses to bolster the strength with a range of new, powerful effects.
  • Meta progression based around Souls with a whole different challenge, unique from the base game.
  • A wide array of new enemies.
