After a tense few weeks of negotiations in parliament, MP Avril Premiere has put forward an amendment that might settle things once and for all. The Conservative MP for Nempnett Thrubwell and Midsomer Norton has put forward a proposal for today's indicative votes that insiders are suggesting might be the surprise winner.
Premiere's suggestion is to do away with voting and elections, as clearly such routes have proven to be only divisive. Instead, the honourable member suggests, the debate could be fairly concluded with a battle royale game. Mega-Match VR, is currently in development by Triboulet Studios (a company which Premiere has a 30% stake in) and will be the largest game of its type ever developed. Supporting up to 700 simultaneous players, the title is large enough for each member of the Houses of Parliament to play a character.
The proposal will be for a special session of parliament to sit, which will be livestreamed on Twitch. Each MP will don an Oculus Rift and battle it out, with the last honourable member standing being the one that decides the UK's ultimate fate.
Stephen Barclay, Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, said he feels that the method "might be the best option open to us". He went on to point out that whilst the game hasn't even reached the early access stage yet, the non-existence of technology hasn't stopped the government so far. He cited Theresa May's satellite technology at the Irish Border and Chris Grayling awarding a ferry contract to a company that didn't actually own any ferries.
