My Time at Evershine Receives Official April Dev Update
It's been quite a while since the release of the My Time at Evershine Kickstarter, which saw Pathea Games soar way above the original success that the team had seen with its previous titles. With each new entry into the series, the team has pushed gameplay elements higher, whether it's quality-of-life improvements, updates, gameplay updates, or deeper narratives. The team has iterated on each entry substantially.
Now, though two years have passed since the release of the Kickstarter, and there haven't been many updates regarding the future of the game. Having taken a bit more of a backseat, public-facing updates became scarce, as the team focused on the future of the gameplay, trying to meet the deadline set by the Kickstarter prior.
Though the deadline was missed, and a lot of issues regarding development got in the way, backer feedback has pushed Pathea Games to share more information regarding the current state of Evershine. While its official delay has been adjusted to nearer the end of 2026, there still seems to be a full steam ahead approach to the overall upcoming launch.

The newest April Developer Update gives us a look at some of the challenges that the team has faced, including hair, which has been a topic of debate for some time. With the new, highly updated graphics, the style change has proved to be a challenge with the cinematics, character interactions, and more.
Currently, the team is trying to retain the original art style that was promised during the Kickstarter, while reworking the rendering pipeline from the ground up to fit in the new hair, titled "hair cards". This new system rewrites everything to do with the hair, and according to the team, the budget has ballooned drastically on the hair development alone.

Next, we got a look at the Kickstarter stretch goals that were hit for the 1.7 and 2.25 million goals. This unlocked the capability to support character height and body adjustments, respectively, which will allow players to create their own characters with more in-depth customisation that hasn't been present in the My Time franchise prior.
As mentioned by the team, these customisations are a bit more complicated than they might seem at first, as the immersive element of Evershine needs to remain to a quality standard. Issues like players glitching through interactable objects, clothes, animations, and even cutscenes have arisen from trying to adjust model types before, and it's only possible for the team to make these changes based on the Kickstarter goals hit for Evershine.
The current system allows customisation for 15% higher or lower than the default body height and size, with various elements getting their own sliders. One of the images shown off showcases sliders for character customisation that'll adjust things like neck size, shoulder width, upper arm, forearm, chest, waist size, and pelvis width, with more that haven't been announced so far.

Finally, we get a bit more of a look at the world players will inhabit, focusing on the higher-fidelity graphics and the dynamic weather players can expect. From bright, sunny days to darker and cloudier ones, which will adjust the overall feel of the day-to-day living that players can expect.

Judging by the name, this is the April update, which might hint at possibly monthly updates to look forward to as we move closer to the 1.0 launch sometime in 2026.
