New Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition Switch Trailer Showcase Midna

Hyrule Warriors, a successful spinoff of the Dynasty Warriors games which uses the iconic characters, enemies, and settings of beloved franchise The Legend of Zelda, has had a version announced for the Nintendo Switch, which is being called the Definitive Edition. This version of the game boasts all of the features of its predecessors, with the addition of five new characters whose abilities are showcased in a new gameplay trailer.

These new additions to Hyrule Warriors’ already beefy roster of 21 playable characters are Zant, Midna, Twili Midna, and Agitha from Twilight Princess, as well as Toon Zelda from Spirit Tracks. This particular Twilight Princess and Spirit Tracks mix may come off as tonally and aesthetically mismatched, but with Zant and Twili Midna covering the more dark, clean and serious tone of sometimes found in these games, Midna being a bridge between the two extremes, and Agitha and Toon Zelda taking care of the light, bouncy fun side of the series, the new player characters are a vertical slice of spirit and design within the Zelda universe.

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition will be available on the 18th of May, giving veterans of the title a new reason play and newbies a wealth of hack-and-slash Zelda content with all 26 playable characters, an ensemble cast story, light RPG mechanics, monsters to beat, Ganondorfs to defeat, and a number of gameplay modes to keep you coming back even after the credits roll on your first playthrough.
