New Persona 5 Scramble Trailer Shows That It's More Than Just a Musou

The upcoming spin-off Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers has a new gameplay trailer, and despite being developed by Omega Force which is most well known for its Dynasty Warriors games, it’s shaping up to be much more than just another Warriors game.

The game takes place half a year after the ending of the original Persona 5, with the Phantom Thief gang having a reunion during the summer break. For some inexplicable reason, they find that palaces and the cognitive world have returned, and once again the team takes it upon themselves to try and prevent these incidents from occurring.

While Persona 5 Scramble does feature the usual combat system that Omega Force has become known for, with players tearing through armies of enemies with just a few attacks, there are quite a few other elements that help the game distinguish itself from other Warriors titles.

It seems that this game will be incorporating some of the slower moments from the Persona titles, with the player being able to explore a number of hubs in between battles, and spend time with the other Phantom Thief members. Light stealth and platforming sections also appear to be a large part of the game, diversifying the different gameplay elements from the usual barrage of action.

Each member of the Phantom Thieves will be playable in Persona 5 Scramble, bar Futaba Sakura (also known as Oracle). This is in line with the base game, with Futaba acting as a support character and a source of information for the Phantom Thieves, while the other members take care of brawling.

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers is set to release 22nd February, 2020 in Japan for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. A worldwide release date is currently unspecified.

This trailer has me so HYPE though. I was gonna write it off but this is a full blown sequel with action segments, 2D platforming, proper story!

Same TBH. I'm not big on the genre, but it's not just "Now these characters fight endless waves", it's "So what happens next?"

I completely agree. I didn't have an interest in this game before but now I'm genuinely interested.
