Nuclear Throne Launch Trailer

2014 has seen the release of an incredibly important post-nuclear apocalypse game. No, not Fallout 4, but Nuclear Throne. What sets this indie game apart from Bethesda's tiatanic release a few weeks earlier is the unique approach to the post nuclear winter concept. There's no "brave last human alive restoring humanity" ethos here. No, in this view of the future, everyone's either dead or a mutant and it's every mutant for themselves.

It's a roguelike top down shooter with a retro feel to it. As you go, you can collect more radiation to mutate additional abilities or limbs. It's a particularly tongue-in-cheek affair and it's available now for PS4, Vita, Windows, Mac and Linux. There's a PS3 version in development to if that's your flavour of choice.
