Pokémon GO and One Piece Crossing Over an a New Event

Pokémon GO and One Piece Crossing Over an a New Event

In a surprise crossover, manga artist Eiichiro Oda is teaming up with Niantic and Pokémon GO to support the reconstruction in Kumamoto following the 2016 earthquake, with a special Pokémon GO event.

Eiichiro Oda is known for his work on best selling manga series One Piece, and during the event players will be able to capture Pikachu’s donning the iconic Straw Hat that One Piece protagonist Monkey D. Luffy wears. Players will also be able to wear their own Straw Hats, with the item being obtainable through the in-game store. A special PokéStop represented by a statue of Monkey D. Luffy will also be accessible in the Kumamoto area during the time of the event.

The event will run from 22nd July to 29th July, which celebrate both the third anniversary of Pokémon GO as well as the 22nd anniversary of One Piece.
