Project Motor Racing Shares Free Weekend Promotion on Steam

Every once in a while, developers and publishers offer up their titles for free, giving players the opportunity to check out the experience without having to purchase. Free weekends are a great opportunity to get unhindered access to a title, shifting away from the hyper-curated elements that some demos can have.

The latest title to join this list is Project Motor Racing. Having launched in the 25th of November 2025, the title received a Mostly Negative audience score, with 874 reviews, of which 35% of them were negative. The launch was plagued with issues, with the title even receiving mixed critic scores, launching to a 58 Metascore across 14 total reviews. Now, as of the 25th of March 2026, Project Motor Racing released a 2.0 update, hoping to fix some of the issues that players who experienced it had with the feel of the game. Just a day later, the title went up to play for free on Steam to invite players to try it out, either those who refunded the original product or newcomers.

Since the release of Project Motor Racing 2.0, it seems that developer Straight4 studios has turned its favour, with 72% of recent reviews having a positive review among 22. While it's not an absolution of a broken launch, it's a great start to a title that's only been out a few months, showing real promise in a change.
