R-Type Returns on Switch and Steam

There are certain games that bring a surge of rose-tinted nostalgia. Renowned as one of the true greats of the shoot-em-up genre, R-Type is one of those games. With its HR Giger inspired art, fast-paced action, and exquisite level design, it's rightly regarded as one of the best in its class. Back in 2009, Tozai Games remastered it for the high-definition generation, with a compilation entitled R-Type Dimensions Now, nearly ten years on, that remastering is being re-released on new platforms.

Coming to both Steam and the Switch before the end of 2018, R-Type Dimensions is a faithful recreation of the original two games in the series. They can be played with both the original graphics, or the new high-def graphics, depending on your preference. As well as all the features of the first remake, this new remake will be adding new features in the form of a "Full Power-up" mode, and a Fast Forward function, allowing the already speedy game to be sped up further. Check out the swanky new trailer above for more details.

OMG I more than loved this game, this was beyond a classic.

Played it to death in the arcades and on the GameBoy (Original)

the GameBoy port is one of the most technically impressive too. Given the limited power of the system they did an amazing job.
