Rainbow Six Siege Confirmed for Next Gen Consoles

In a recent interview with Windows Central, Leroy Athanassof (Game Director at Ubisoft) confirmed that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege would be coming to both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X as a launch title.

Discussing the possibility of cross-platform integration in Rainbow Six Siege, Athanassof places responsibility onto the platform owners, stating that: "this is more a discussion between Microsoft and Sony. We would love to be fully cross-play — have Xbox players matchmaking against the PlayStation players".

Despite the ambiguity of cross-play as a part of Rainbow Six Siege's future, the interview did guarantee cross-generation play. So Xbox and PlayStation may not mix, but PlayStation 4 and 5 definitely will —likewise for Xbox One and Series X.

The tactical shooter has been something of an underdog for Ubisoft: initially hitting the market to lukewarm reception, but building up over the course of years to being one of the more popular Esports today. This growth is due to continued support from the development team, who have tirelessly worked to polish the game and produce regular content updates.
