Rapture Rejects Removed From Steam

The massively multiplayer/battle royale title Rapture Rejects has been removed from sale on Steam.

Despite our positive preview in 2019, it seems the playerbase never grew past 1000 concurrent players, at least according to SteamDB. Though it's uncertain how much support the game received, as the last news update to the Steam community was made days before our preview, three years ago. Similarly, the final tweet from the official Twitter account was the same day.

The most curious thing, however, was that the verified Explosm Twitter account (Explosm being the entity in charge of the game and the larger Cyanide & Happiness IP)  told someone on Twitter in April that they had requested the game to be removed from Steam. There are games removed every day that made the request, and had the game removed from sale, much faster than four months - some within hours of the request.

In any case, the Steam store page now no longer has the option to purchase, and instead has this message:

Notice: At the request of the publisher, Rapture Rejects is no longer available for sale on Steam.

So if you're still hoping to get a match from Rapture Rejects, don't expect any new players to join. No statement has been made on whether or not the game servers will remain active.
