Riot Games Teases Potential Twisted Treeline Return in Latest League of Legends Dev Update
The latest League of Legends Dev Update, introducing 2026 Season 1 Act 2: For Demacia, has officially dropped. While not much was shared in terms of new content for this one — with information on more prospective changes rather than anything else — we did have a section near the end that shared some enlightening information.
For this latest Dev Update, titled "Ranked, Shyvana & More | Dev Update - League of Legends", the second-to-final section of the video had almost three minutes of frequently asked questions that the community has been bringing up for a while. This bit includes answers for things like "When is WASD coming to Ranked?", "Where is True Skill 2?", and "Does Shyvana lay eggs?" (the team refused to answer the last one).
Likely the most exciting of the bunch, however, was the second question in the FAQ, where we learned a bit about the potential return of Twisted Treeline. The question, "Can you bring Twisted Treeline back?" was addressed, where Rioter Pabro had this to say:
Not working on this right now. But I'll be real: we'd like to someday. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as just flipping on a switch, as some things need to be entirely rebuilt in the League engine nowadays. But it is something we are excited and nostalgic for. So, maybe.

While this isn't an outright confirmation for the return of Twisted Treeline, it is great to see Riot Games addressing one of the fan-favourite retired game modes. This could very well tie in, as well, with the League of Legends client and engine rehaul that we heard about a while back, which should be happening sometime in 2027.
Regardless, it's great to hear some information regarding Twisted Treeline that isn't absolute silence or a hard no. Whether it comes to League of Legends or not might edpend on fan demand and reception if a reworked version is ever released.
