Sony Discusses Investing In More First-Party Studios

During a recent investors meeting, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan revealed that the company in interested in growing its array of first-party studios through “organic growth and acquisitions” leading into the next generation of consoles.

While it’s unlikely we’ll see any results from new studios in terms of new titles for a number of years, it shows that Sony are going to trying to combat Microsoft’s recent purchases of first-parties with their own exclusives. Throughout the current generation, the PlayStation 4 has been dominating with numerous highly successful first-party releases, but if Microsoft are looking to heighten the competition then it’s reassuring for PlayStation fans to hear that Sony won’t be resting on their laurels in the coming years.
