Soukou Musume Announcement Trailer
Soukou Musume or, roughly translated as Armoured Girls, is a joint venture between DMM Games and Level-5, the publisher behind Professor Layton and the Curious Village.
The president of Level-5, Akihiro Hino, presented the game on stage at the DMM VR Theater in Yokohama, Japan. Demonstrating the use of Live2D technology, this software allows artists to simulate 3D imagery while only using 2D assets.
All characters will be fully voiced and wear armour from the LBX: Little Battlers Experience series. Featuring an armour break system, if the fighters take too much damage their armour will shatter, leaving the character in less than battle-ready attire. (standard)
Soukou Musume is set to be released this coming winter for PC, iOS and Android next spring.

I don't get why JRPG cutscenes are so awesome, yet are never anything like the games themselves...

Because they know how to make awesome animation. They struggle when it comes to adding game mechanics to that... :|

Well one could argue that cinematic cutscenes in other games do the exact same thing.
