Starsand Island Offers Look at In-depth Decoration in Latest Update
Over the past few days, Seed Sparkle Lab has been offering unique looks at their upcoming Early Access cosy life simulator, Starsand Island. This title has been one of the most anticipated titles in the genre, sitting at #73 in top wishlists and having 32,888 Followers (at the time of writing).
Ever since the announcement of the Early Access launch this month, we've been getting sneak peeks at what players can expect in the experience, with the previous one offering a look at the character customisation and changes from the demo. If you want to learn more about that, you can check it out through here!
Now, the latest look during the Early Access Countdown offers players the opportunity to learn more about building the dream home. This Steam News Post shares a robust look at the customisation options for decoration, which is a surprisingly in-depth approach that'll let prospective decorators spend hundreds of hours with the editor.

The news post starts off by talking about the home decoration, which works a lot like open-world survival crafting experiences. Using foundations, grid alignment, and perspective modes, players will be able to build their dream home piece by piece.
This grid-based building will take place along the whole lot, and players can choose how big or small to create their abodes. Since the walls, flooring, foundation, and more take place in the plot of land, players can move freely between the inside and outside without any loading screens, offering a smooth transitioning experience.
The customisation also expands to wall and floor decorations, allowing players to select materials and decorate the space with pretty much anything they find in the game. Snacks, old tools, and all sorts of items will be usable as in-game decoration, allowing creativity to run wild without hindrance.

Perfectionists will love the perspective system, where they'll be able to preview the home in different weathers, times of day, and lighting, allowing customisation of details for a consistent home. This alleviates issues of disliking the way specific home elements look during some seasons or times of day, offering the opportunity to build the perfect home.
Decoration will be done through nearly a thousand decorative items spanning various themes and eras. There are classic, modern, European, traditional, and even whimsical styles, meaning that the plot of land can drastically change depending on the person's preferred decoration style, without forsaking medieval or modern looks, as many titles prefer a consistent look.
However, for those who aren't interested in decorating and still want a grandiose home, there are going to be eight house layouts to add. These presets offer a wide variety of options, allowing the player just to set it down and either build from it or call it a day, meaning that those who don't enjoy creative house-building won't have to engage with the system.

For those who created homes that they love, they'll be able to turn them into a blueprint and reuse them across saves. This means that spending hours creating the perfect home won't go to waste once starting a new savefile, but instead, it can be iterated on and brought back for consecutive playthroughs (or likely shared online, though Starsand Island hasn't mentioned anything about Steam Workshop integration).
Finally, it's more than just home decoration that players can take advantage of, as there's also the option to edit the terrain as a whole. "Your island, your rules" applies to this, as players can shape hills, dig and create lakes, and design gardens, offering full creativity of the experience.
This harkens back to one of the homes in the preset layouts — amidst the screenshot, there's a "Floating Oasis" option that's a Houseboat, allowing the player to choose whether they want to live in a luxurious yacht instead. It's a pretty in-depth system that might be intimidating, but it's incorporated with a beginner-friendly guide.
Starsand Islandis set to launch on Steam Early Access on the 11th of February 2026 on Windows PC via Steam.
