Tavern Keeper's First Major Update is Out Now; Watch the Trailer!

Developed and published by Greenheart Games, Tavern Keeper is an Early Access cosy (yet chaotic) tavern-keeping simulator. The team just released a major update called A New Hue, and its focus is on the ability to customise and share decor with other players!

Any item available in Design Mode can have its colour edited, including even making it metallic or shiny. This adds a new level of control to how players can customise their tavern!

Thanks to the release of the Tavern Keeper Workshop, which players asked for, items can easily be shared among the community. Now, players won't have to go hunting for codes online — they can just head over to the new section of the game's website!

In this bespoke area, items can be listed publicly so others may discover them. Players can also look forward to building a library of their favourite items, making a collection, favouriting items, and even finding what's trending!

That's not all: there are 391 new design pieces available in Design Mode. Thanks to player feedback, there are more basic building blocks added, such as curved, round, and chamfered shapes.

This is a great time to try the other new feature: the ability to decorate moving parts in Design Mode. This means players can now customise parts like doors!

Lastly, in terms of decoration and customisation, the team added sockets to Design Mode. This allows players to choose what parts belong to what, so that when things automatically disappear when placed, all the proper areas are accounted for.

Next up, Greenheart Games also added full controller support, allowing Tavern Keeperto also become Steam Deck verified! The team was open about the difficulty behind this implementation, stating:

Adding controller support was a huge undertaking. Our UI is handcrafted (and hand-animated!) in 3D, which meant that we had to implement this from scratch! But this also meant we were going through our entire UI and we took that opportunity to make several improvements which benefit everyone, regardless of whether you play using a controller or use keyboard and mouse.

To keep the news piece shorter, here are all the features added to Tavern Keeper in their major update, A New Hue:

  • The ability to recolour items.
  • Tavern Keeper Workshop to share designs with the community more easily.
  • The ability to decorate animated objects in Design Mode.
