Team Sonic Racing Goes into Overdrive This Winter

Everyone's favorite speed demon Erinaceidae, Sonic the Hedgehog, is giving his overworked feet a rest for his next release...by using them to put the pedal to the metal. SEGA revealed this week that the newest iteration of Sonic Racing, called Team Sonic Racing, is coming this winter.

Features of the newest iteration of the Sonic Racing franchise seem to lean heavily on the new team aspect. "Race as a team, win as a team," SEGA says of the game, hinting at team abilities and even a "Team Ultimate," which is likely to be an over-the-top power move. Other features will include an adventure and team adventure mode, customizable vehicle skins, and "wisps" from the Sonic Colors game, which will give the racers one of 14 offensive or defensive abilities to help them keep ahead. The game is also set to include not online four-player split-screen local multiplayer, but also online multiplayer for up to 12 racers choosing between 15 playable characters split between three distinct character types: speed, technique, and power.
