Terraria Celebrates 15 Years with Crossplay Confirmation and More

Terraria has been a videogame sensation for 15 years now, as the 2D sandbox experience has been around since its launch on the 16th of May 2011. Since then, it's accrued millions of reviews, players, updates, and so much more.

To celebrate this, Re-Logic released some statistics for Terraria, sharing information about the 15 years of launch. The stats are a pretty cool look at how strong the game continues to be, despite its many years of age, still bringing in thousands of players daily to enjoy the expansive experience.

Here are the stats we got to learn about in Terraria's 15th Anniversary Post:

  • Terraria has sold 70 million copies, distributed as follows: 39.6 million copies on PC, 10.7 million copies on console, and 19.7 million copies on mobile.
  • Terraria has reached an average players per day number of 461,000, with another 237,000 on tModLoader (which is counted separately on Steam). These peaked at 1.4 million players in a single day and 441,000, respectively.
  • Terraria has been played an average of 101 hours and 18 minutes on PC (with no information on mobile and console).

It wasn't just stats that Re-Logic celebrated with, but more information about the future of Terraria. After talking stats, the team mentioned that the game will be getting Crossplay soon, alongside further updates beyond 1.4.6.

Even past the updates, the future of Terraria seems to be well-established. More future plans and ideas that haven't been confirmed were mentioned, which lets the mind wander about what the future holds for the experience.

Here's to more years of Terraria, and congratulations to Re-Logic as a whole!
