The Day Before Closes Servers Next Month

The Day Before came and went so quickly, that many might have just missed it. After having a disastrous release on the 7th of December, the game received many negative ratings (reaching Overwhelmingly Negative on Steam and still having 1.7 stars in 110 ratings on Google). This highly anticipated title (often deemed a scam and a non-existent game) saw critical failure across every platform — critics and players alike were unhappy with its performance.

Just a few days after the release of the open-world survival MMO, the game was delisted from Steam with an official statement from developer Fntastic, stating that the long-run studio would now be closing after eight years in service. They were responsible for the release of The Wild EightDead DozenRadiant OnePropnight, and finally, The Day Before. The future of the game remained uncertain, though closure was likely unavoidable.

Now, on the official @playdaybefore X account, the post addresses the community, including the fact that Fntastic ceased operations, and that due to that, The Day Before will be retired (including the servers) on the 22nd of January 2024. This means that the servers and game only survived for a total of 42 days before reaching full closure.

Mytona is working closely with Valve to ensure that everyone can get a refund for the game. Since the original delisting of The Day Before after the release, Steam has been issuing refunds to everyone, and it seems like the team is working to ensure that everyone who bought the game will receive a refund, whether you asked for it or not. When these proactive refunds will take place remains to be known; those who want a refund should likely reach out to customer support to request it.

The reception to The Day Before has been nothing short of abysmal after the game's release, with each post receiving all sorts of negative feedback from the community that felt cheated by the release. This trend continues with the final tweet, though we assume this is likely the last communication we'll receive about anything The Day Before this year.

The Day Before servers close on the 22nd of January 2024.
