The Long-Silent 'Mafia' Twitter Account Mysteriously Reawakens

The official Twitter account for 2K's Mafia franchise released a tweet on 10th May 2020, its first after almost two years of inactivity. Other than the single word, "Family.", included in the tweet, no additional communication regarding the franchise has been made from 2K. Whether this is a precursor to a re-release, remake or even a full-on Mafia IV is unclear, but something is astir with the long-dormant franchise.

The last entry in the organised crime-based series, Mafia III, released to mixed reviews all the way back in 2016. Despite its repetitive nature, many praised the game for its style, presentation and themes. In the years since its release, public opinion has leaned towards the favourable end of the spectrum for the franchise, making a revival a genuine possibility.

It's incredibly unlikely that this tease won't be followed up by some kind of announcement regarding the series' future. The question is: what will the announcement be? For the answer to that question, we'll just have to wait.
