The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Out Now

Daedalic Entertainment and Nacon have officially released the story-driven fantasy adventure game The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, an adaptation of the literary novels of J.R.R. Tolkien, on PC and consoles. In this title, you’ll return to Middle-earth as Gollum, embarking on a dangerous quest to retrieve his Precious.

“We‘re eagerly anticipating Middle-earth‘s fans‘ reactions to Daedalic‘s deep dive into the singularly complex Stoor Hobbit, Smeagol aka Gollum, who is driven by forces, within and outside his control, simultaneously,” said Director of Brand & Licencing at Middle-earth Enterprises, Fredrica Drotos. Playing as Gollum lets you be as skilful and sly as he is in the novels. You’re able to climb, leap, and sneak your way around dangers and it’s up to you to decide which of his two personalities prevails throughout the narrative as you face difficult moral choices. Plus, you’ll meet compelling characters, new and familiar, along the way.

Despite its big ambitions, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is currently receiving poor reception to its launch. According to Metacritic, its PC version has received a 43 Metascore while its PlayStation 5 reviews have it sitting at a 38 Metascore.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. A Nintendo Switch version is planned to launch later this year.
