TWOuya: OUYA Announces A New Second Console!!

Editor's Note: The astute amongst you will have probably noticed the date on this article already. This April Fools gag was brought to you by GameGrin.com

Ouya Inc. has risen from the ashes to deliver an announcement that no-one really expected: a second iteration of the eighth-gen console called the “TWOuya”.

OU-YEAH!

During the surge of micro consoles in the early 2010s, the original Ouya paved the way for a new wave of Android-based systems. We are certainly barren of such platforms, but the ebb and flow of the tide have washed up a second era for the company!

From the TWOuya press release that was released earlier today, the folks over at Ouya Inc have teamed up with iOS as opposed to the Android operating system of the last console.

A completely unprecedented move by Apple who rarely (if ever) collaborates with another company on this scale - giving an external manufacturer the keys to the Apple Game Center and App Store, but also to revive the Apple Pippin brand! Meaning that yes: Marathon is coming back to consoles, baby! Here’s hoping for a Pippin themed controller and console!

Speaking of ancient consoles, the TWOuya pays homage to the Sega Dreamcast with a peripheral reminiscent of the Visual Memory Unit (VMU): The “NANOuya”. Marketed as a handheld touch-screen “nano-console”, the NANOuya also acts as an insertable memory card and secondary screen for the TWOuya’s controller.

It seems as though TWOuya isn’t just called as such because it’s “the second Ouya console”, but is in fact a hybrid of two types of Ouya together!

Along with an established library of iOS games (as well as the aforementioned Apple Pippin collection), Two exclusives have been announced for the TWOuya: Monument Valley 3 and Fez II, both scheduled for 2022! As well as an unannounced Konami mobile title in the works (please don’t be a pachinko machine!)

More details should surface during Apple’s WWDC 2021 virtual event later in the year, and perhaps we’ll get a look at what the TWOuya & NANOuya will look like!
