Unearth the Mysteries of Forgotten Flora in Botany Manor, Launching on Nintendo Switch

Following its announcement in this week’s Indie World Showcase, more details on Botany Manor, the debut game from developers Balloon Studios and Whitehorn Games, have become available. Set in a historical English homestead, Botany Manor is an exploration puzzle game in which players must investigate clues around the house and grounds to figure out the ideal habitat for a collection of rare flora.

The heads of Ballon Studios and Whitehorn Games shared their thoughts on this announcement:

“With Botany Manor, I wanted to create a game for underrepresented audiences like myself,” said Laure De Mey, Founder of Balloon Studios. “I’m proud of the work we’ve done, and grateful for the support from my team and the team at Whitethorn Games.”

Botany Manor is an impressive debut title from Balloon Studios,” said Dr. Matthew White, CEO of Whitethorn Games. “It has all the qualities Whitethorn Games looks for in a project — escapism, casual, relaxing gameplay, an engaging story — and so much more. The world always needs more of this kind of game, and Laure is delivering.”

In this game, players will see the manor through the eyes of its sole inhabitant, retired botanist Arabella Greene. Her collection of rare, forgotten flora needs a proper home, so it’s time to do some research. While in Arabella’s house and gardens, you will come across botanical notes, books, and posters which will hopefully help her find a suitable habitat for those precious plants. Players will also use interactable items scattered around the manor and grounds to solve plant-based puzzles.

The key features of Botany Manor include learning more about the life and career of Arabella and the challenges she faced as a woman navigating her scientific career, as well as solving puzzles in Botany Manor that come in the shape of growing plants. So you will need to find seeds, put them in pots and carry them to the right environment. But finding their ideal habitat will sometimes require you to think outside the box.

You can look forward to drinking tea and solving mysteries when this title releases on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch in 2023.
