Valheim Exceeds Five Million Sales

The open world Nordic co-op smash-hit Valheim is continuing its meteoric rise in popularity as it surpasses five million sales. With upwards of 500,000 peak concurrent players, it also takes the spot of the fifth most concurrently-played game in Steam history, behind Dota 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and PUBG.  

Five-person developer Iron Gate Studio and publisher Coffee Stain Publishing have released a number of other impressive figures relating to Valheim's success. They report reaching the spot of 39th top reviewed game on Steam, with over 35 million hours of gameplay watched via Twitch. They also estimate that players have spent a total 16,266 hours playing the game.

Valheim is undoubtedly 2021's first gaming surprise hit. It'll be exciting to see what comes next for the project.
