Vampire Crawlers Shares Information on Card Combos with Mana System
poncle revolutionised the videogame industry by creating Vampire Survivors, the latest title to spawn a brand-new genre in the world. With bullet heavens as the team's debut title, it was time to move on to something that was a bit more competitive: card-based deckbuilders.
It's an oversaturated genre that has been competitive for years since the launch of Slay the Spire, as developers around the world take inspiration from the title and create different versions and evolutions. Of course, poncle wasn't going to come in without trying to bring in hyper-satisfying gameplay for everyone to enjoy.
Vampire Crawlers is the first spin-off of Vampire Survivors, as players will fight familiar characters with weapons that they've come to get used to. The team started a new YouTube series where players are getting sneak peeks at the upcoming gameplay elements that players can look forward to, all the while working as great marketing for the unique elements coming into the title.

This time around, we get a look at the way mana is going to work in the game. While it's a fast-paced card-based roguelike title, players will be encouraged to play at a quick pace, offering an in-game system that calculates all damage and allows players to spam abilities at will.
In the latest YouTube video, we learn a bit about the mana system that some cards will have. While most of the attacks and cards will have a cost of 0, chaining numbers incrementally raises the damage that each card will do.
Also shown off in the video is the wild card system, where if you're stuck, you'll be able to use cards priced at W to chain however you want — you could reset the counter back to 0, allowing you to create combos that go extremely high.
If you're interested in checking out the video, you can watch the trailer above! Vampire Crawlers is set to have a demo at the upcoming Steam Next Fest.
