Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Apologises for Highly Controversial Voice Pack and Refunds All Players
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has had a spotless record ever since its launch on the 9th of September 2024. Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment's dedication to the community has ensured they keep their community pleased, even after nearly two years since launch, still getting over 10,000 players daily.
However, the spotless record was broken in February, when the team released a very controversial DLC that sparked outrage amongst fans. The voice pack in question is Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 - Chapter Voice Pack 1, which was priced at £4.49 at the time of release, on the 26th of February 2026.
The team addressed the latest controversy after a month of silence, as Game Director Dmitriy Grigorenko shared a lengthy note talking about the DLC. This was part of the March Community Update, which is the way Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment keep players engaged with the development.

In the statement, the team acknowledges that the Chapter Voice Pack DLC did not hit the mark with players, failing to meet expectations. Dmitriy Grigorenko states various issues with the launch, including failing to set expectations, production constraints, and more.
Continuing faithful to the way the team has behaved thus far, the team will be refunding all purchases of the Chapter Voice Pack DLC and making it free for all to keep. The refunds will be automatic for all players, meaning that purchasers won't have to go out of their way to get their £4.49 back from the purchase.
After receiving Overwhelmingly Negative reviews on Steam, with 18% positive reviews amidst 710 total ratings, it was a misfire from Saber Interactive. While the pack is still available for purchase at the time of writing, it has been applied to all Steam libraries that own Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.

Refunds are expected to begin in early April, with no official refund period given just yet. They'll be processed automatically, and those who purchased it on Steam will get the money back on their Steam wallet. The team mentions that if purchasers haven't received their refunds by the end of April, they should get in contact with their chosen platform's support.
It's refreshing to see a company admit fault and take it back amidst a turbulent year in the videogame industry. It's not a good omen that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 had its first major controversy this year, but it's a breath of fresh air to see the team respond appropriately.
