Indie developer Florent Martinais, previously of Don't Nod and Quantic Dream, has launched What Surrounds Us.

This puzzle-exploration game drops you into a vibrant mini ecosystem teeming with life, then throws it off balance. A new, invasive species arrives and disrupts the habitat, crowding out the native creatures and unsettling the rhythms the whole biosphere depends on. Can you find a way for everything to coexist?

Beyond its puzzles, What Surrounds Us leans on atmosphere and emotion. There's no dialogue and no narration, and the minimalist art style turns understanding the story into part of the challenge, all carried by a bespoke soundtrack. 

I wanted to craft something deeply personal, while still creating an experience that could resonate universally. That’s really the core theme of the game, after all. I’m looking forward to sharing it with the world and seeing people rack their brains trying to uncover more about my tiny world!
