10 Games I Want to See on the Nintendo Switch

10 Games I Want to See on the Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch has fast become my favourite console. I love the flexibility between handheld and playing off the TV, and the games that have been released and announced in its first year give reason for further optimism. Despite that, I’ve listed the ten Switch games I want to see, and hopefully some of these suggestions come to fruition. These games are not in typical order, instead I will rank from least likely to most likely - enjoy!

10) Football Manager
Okay, it's highly unlikely, but even a streamlined version would be fine by me. I'm a huge fan of Football Manager, but I have to be at my computer to play it and I'm not overly keen on playing it on my mobile due to its battery-sapping ways and the small screen. As I said, the full game or a streamlined version would be fantastic for some management on the go - as long as it supported online play! I used to play FM on my own, but ever since I started playing the game with an equally football-mad friend, it wouldn't feel the same without that. I know this game wouldn’t utilise many of the features or buttons on the Joy-Con, but that isn’t to say going ahead with this game is a bad idea.

9) Call of Duty
I've gone off the CoD games in recent years. Similar with my situation with FIFA in preferring PES, I've found Battlefield’s gameplay trumps Call of Duty’s. That isn't to say I don't see a place in my game library for the alternatives, far from it. The problem I have is space - namely my PlayStation 4 being limited to 500GB.
So, if CoD was released on the Switch, I think it'd be a great way for mildly disgruntled fans to be reacquainted with the series. I think the Switch is crying out for a AAA title, especially for a FPS. Potentially unlikely again, but it would be cool. And on a personal note, I'm desperate for a war game to give me a base builder online game mode. I’ve sorely missed this since the days of Medal of Honor on GameSpy Arcade.

8) Star Wars: Battlefront
EA Sports has already given us FIFA 18, so why wouldn't EA give us Battlefront? The Star Wars series is big money, so what better way for EA to capitalise on that by developing the game on the Switch? Regardless of whether it's a version of the current Next-Gen games or the classic PlayStation 2 games, Star Wars: Battlefront on the Switch is the stuff of dreams. The best part is - the original game had no online and it was still amazing, so I would anticipate the game being superb no matter what - although yes, I would prefer a remake of the legendary PS2 versions, however unlikely that is.

7) Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training
This game was one of my absolute favourites when I was growing up, and although I heard that a Dr. Kawashima game is coming out on the 3DS, I feel Nintendo could do little wrong to launch this on the Switch. The size of the game and its memory would be greater, so the sky would be the limit as far as this game could go. The game could also extend beyond the mathematical and cognitive side of puzzles and venture into online battles, how to keep your mind active on a daily basis, learning new languages, or word association games.

6) Goldeneye 007
The game that redefined an entire genre, Goldeneye is its original version, or even the Wii iteration, would be welcomed additions to the Switch. Of course in 2017, the campaign mode alone wouldn't necessarily suffice, so perhaps a ‘legendary’ mode could be added, along with online leaderboards, enhanced graphics and new weapons. They could add an online multiplayer and make it similar in style to Agent Under Fire or Nightfire’s gameplay. Some gamers don’t like the idea of re-releasing titles in favour of creating new ones, but surely this one makes a little bit of sense?

5) Wii Sports Clone? (Switch Sports?)
It's fair to say that 1-2 Switch got mixed reviews, and being released as a full priced title didn't go in its favour. When the Nintendo Wii first came out, Wii Play and Wii Sports were the games that introduced us to the console - and they were either reasonably priced, or came as part of a bundle. I enjoyed both for different reasons, but as I believe the Switch needs more sports games, a new version of Wii Sports would be nice. The original game had tennis, baseball, boxing, bowling, and golf. What if this time all these were included, but it also came with; a football penalty shootout, archery, cricket, curling, athletics, or badminton? Each game requiring a different use of the Joy-Cons, and really maxing out what the Switch can do.

4) Any Horror Game
When I said earlier that the Switch is crying out for some sports games, the same can be said for the horror genre. Be it Outlast, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, or Until Dawn, I think this console would really benefit from having a top horror game. I love the horror genre, and if I could play a horror game game on the go, I’d feel less afraid than I currently do playing a horror game on my PS4. I don’t think an indie title would suffice either, as I think the Switch would need a big name to really kickstart the genre for the console.

3) F1
It all adds up when you think about it: motion control, the use of a steering wheel, and the ability to use a Joy-Con each for local multiplayer. Formula One games are high-octane thrill rides but I don't always get that into them when playing on a console, so having the option to play it on the go would be extremely beneficial. I could play the qualifying on handheld, and then when I get home play the race in front of my TV. For those reasons and more, I would love F1 to come to the Switch.

2) Mario Party
One of my all-time favourite series of games, Mario Party reminds me of visiting my cousins in the summer holidays and playing Mario Party 4 late at night into early morning. To this day, I still love the combination of board games and party games. Having said that, it's been a fair while since I played a Mario Party game, since the days of the original DS to be precise, and I feel like I still have that affection towards a game that I used to be so fond of. I would like to think this game would be in the pipeline eventually, but the sooner the better.

1) Pro Evolution Soccer
This is definitely something that could happen. The PES series has been on a roll in recent years, with the game surpassing most things EA Sports have done with FIFA - in my opinion! We know that FIFA 18 will be coming to the Switch, and I can't help but think PES would be a fantastic addition to the console. PES’ base game modes include; Master League, Become a Legend, Tournament, Skill Games, and standard Kick-Off. Those modes, along with online friendlies would be a huge hit for Pro Evo fans - I would leave PES League for the console, but regardless of that, I would love to play this game on the go. I suppose all will depend on the number of sales and success that FIFA 18 has on the Switch.

So there you have it, here are ten games I’d like to see come to the Nintendo Switch. Some are possible, some less so, and some are probably pipe dreams, but I’d love to know your thoughts - what games did I miss out, what would you like to see in an ideal world from the Switch? Leave your opinions in the comment section below!

The Mario Party series has been in decline since 6, I think. It could make a great comeback on Switch, but I just don't see it doing any better than any other "I've got to buy it, it's a Switch exclusive!" title.
