4 Lesser Known Games inside Games

One of the fun things about games is how they sometimes pull an Xzibit and put a game in your game so you can game while you game. Yes, that sentence makes grammatical sense. But anyway, I’m not talking about things like OutRun in Yakuza - sometimes these games inside the game are difficult to find, like that flight sim that was inside Microsoft Excel 97.

So, whether you can only access them via a special menu or a Ladbrokes Casino promo code, here are four of them that you might not know about.

Pitfall II: Lost Caverns in Call Of Duty: Black Ops II

This one is Located in the Nuketown 2025 map, released as free DLC after an exclusive period behind certain more expensive editions. If you can shoot the heads off of all of the mannequins in less than two minutes, you can head over to a screen and play - amongst other things - Pitfall II: Lost Caverns. The original game has gotten a lot of love over the years, so it’s nice to see the sequel getting attention.

Sonic The Hedgehog in Sonic Generations

This one isn’t very well hidden, but it’s still hidden. You can unlock the original adventure for the blue blur in Sonic Generations by simply buying the Mega Drive controller in the in-game shop. It’s simple when you think about it, but if you’re anything like me you were probably saving up just in case you needed to save up!

Prince of Persia in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time

Not as easily obtainable was the original Prince of Persia in what was a remake of it! Which is coincidentally getting its own remake soon… But if you wanted some sprite-tastic side-scrolling platforming, all you had to do was complete the game. Obviously, that’s going to take you longer than buying something in-game or shooting some stationary targets, but it’s worth it!

Dragon Buster in Tales of the Abyss

An old arcade adventure game inside a PlayStation 2 JRPG - who saw that coming? Sure, it was also on the Famicom, and was later ported to the Wii, but it’s not like there were a lot of games-in-games that weren’t just mini-games at the time. If you wanted to unlock it, you’d need to head to Nam Cobanda Isle and complete the Kowz side quest. Then, once you completed Dragon Buster, you could unlock some costumes for use in the main game!

I hope you learned something new here, and keep an eye out for those out-of-the-way games inside other games.
