5 Games Which Are Ideal To Play On The Go

Over the last few years, as technology has increased and the smartphone and internet connectivity on the go has become commonplace, gaming on the go has gone from strength to strength. With people leading increasingly busy lives, it is not always possible for players to dedicate time in front of a computer or a console, and mobile gaming has become increasingly important as a way to relax and unwind on the go, as well as being a way to kill time whilst travelling, commuting and waiting in queues.

There are thousands upon thousands out there, for all types of gamer:

Wheel of Fortune Online Slot

The Wheel of Fortune Online Slot is based on the hit TV show, featuring many of the graphics and sound effects of the show which rose to fame in the 70s. Slots are hands down one of the most popular types of casino games, with something for everyone. Developers have produced themed games, drawing on popular culture to entice players in and provide a link between the known and unknown, the Wheel of Fortune slot is our favorite, due to how much of the show is encapsulated in the game. There are different numbers of reels and spins, as well as bonuses that unlock additional prizes, be it in game or monetary rewards to the players.

The game enables players from mere pennies, to more substantial amounts, meaning there is something for everyone; for every type of gambler, for every interest, and to suit every budget. This selection of online slots are a game to play on the go as they can be dipped in and out of, and do not require lots of focus and can be a great way to unwind after a long day. They are also shiny and engaging and offer active entertainment without being taxing on the brain!

Plague Inc.

Giving players the opportunity to play as a microbe tasked with infecting, and destroying, the human race before they develop a cure, Plague Inc is a fun, fast paced game that provides an escape from reality. There are four difficulty levels, and the game is a major time killer. With each incarnation of the microbe, the player is given a different game to play. The difficulty level can be changed, as can the evolution of the microbe, as well as the effects of the humans, where to start infecting and how long the illness lasts. At just 30 minutes per game, the thrill of the game is in experimenting the different ways possible to destroy humanity.

Heads Up

Heads Up is the perfect game to play in groups or as a pair to pass the time. The premise of the game is simple:

  • One person holds their phone so that they cannot see the screen, but the other players can
  • The other players need to act out or describe the word on the screen; this could be a person, film, thing, location and so on
  • If the person holding the phone gets the answer right, they tilt the phone up, logging a correct answer
  • If they do not know the answer, they tilt the phone down, logging an incorrect answer
  • Once the timer is out, the number of correct and incorrect answers is shows, and a winner can be declared

This is a great icebreaker game, party game, or a game for long journeys or long queues!

Reigns: Her Majesty

This is a decision-making game that puts an imaginary monarch at the centre of an imaginary court. Players are asked to make decisions each step of the way that affect the next stage of the story. There are questions about how to deal with your subjects and walking the fine line between antagonising your subjects and being a weak ruler. There are also decisions to be made about personal matters (including what to do with your husband!) and what to wear. This BAFTA-winning game is witty, with excellent writing satirising the way women face impossible choices in life, and is highly captivating and engaging, and can be played in short bursts when waiting for the ATM, or for longer stints, for example of a daily commute, making the train ride that much more entertaining.

Lumosity: Train of Thought

Less a game, more a brain-training app, Lumosity has been developed as a variety of puzzle games to test language, maths, spatial awareness, and coordination. The free version of this game throws up a random combination of three types of game that can be played as many times as wanted throughout the day, all designed to help improve neural connectors in the game and keep the player agile and sharp. Train of Thought is one of the most popular Lumosity games. A simple premise of trains departing at the same time and the player flicking the switches to ensure they get to their destinations and don’t crash; this game gets increasingly complex as it levels up.
