Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Event Challenge #3

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Event Challenge #3

Welcome to the latest instalment of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Event Challenge! We are now onto the Fishing Tourney, which surprised me this month, as the items are absolutely charming! Usually, my favourite is either the Gardening Event or the Gyrodite Hunt but this time it seems that the Gyrodite will be at the bottom of my list this time.

Despite the charm and beautiful design of the items, I was still pretty stumped as to what I was going to do with them; not only was the colour palette outside of my usual furniture items, the theme was making it difficult for me to come up with ideas. Inside the cabin it looked a bit odd and I'd be limited to a shed, but in the campsite there would be too much space left and I couldn't think of what else to decorate with outside of the few gardening items.

Thankfully, I have been house-hunting as I have to move soon, so houses, lots, and locations are all on my mind. Thanks to this, I was able to come up with a design for this month's Fishing Tourney — a lot by the road. However, before we move on to see what I've done, I'd like to remind everyone quickly that all the items that were used will be listed at the bottom of the article for easy access, and for all that would rather watch a video tour of the design, you can find it right here!

The idea all started when I made a tiny design using only the Fishing Tourney furniture. I liked how it looked, especially because I got to use most of the items immediately, but it really only took up one small corner of the entire camp. I had previously attempted to add a house beside it to show it was part of a backyard, but the event items are so large they dwarfed the house and made it look odd. Thankfully, I had the brilliant idea of placing the house at the front of the backyard, so the size difference wasn't too obvious! Once I did that, it was just a matter of closing the backyard around the house, and voila!

...Voila, I still have more than half the camp to go. I went back to being stumped, especially after trying to add more houses nearby to see if I could make a small community. It didn't look great, as my first house was much larger. This is when, as I stood in front of the house with the large backyard, I began thinking about my current house-hunting and how we've been focusing on things such as where it's located, what type of things are around it, where the street falls... Suddenly it just snapped into place and I could see it! Just a house, at the edge of a road, and right in front of an orchard.

I wasn't entirely satisfied with this latest design, I am going to be honest with you. It's tough to make it obvious that the road isn't a driveway or that the orchard isn't just a random set of items... or worse yet, that the orchard is just simply a part of my house's lot! But this is indeed the closest I will get with the items we got for this event. They aren't bad — quite the opposite, they're so beautiful! — but the challenge was difficult. I'm not used to making this type of campsite, but it was very fun to try something new, and for the next few weeks I guess I will live in front of an orchard!

Well, that is all for the Fishing Tourney event items of this month! Did you like my dream house? What did you design yourself? Feel free to tell me in a comment below, tweet at me, or even join us in the official GameGrin Discord!
