Dungeons 4 Preview Event

The Dungeons series is known for its dungeon management mechanics, its many mischievous minions, and its humour. After the release of Dungeons 3 in 2017, fans have been collecting evilness and sharpening their pickaxes in anticipation for the sequel and the additions it could bring. Thankfully, the wait is almost over, with the planned release of 9th November closing in fast. Being the impatient gremlins that we are, we were given the opportunity to peek behind the curtain and see what the latest title is all about.

Dungeons4 keyart final

In Dungeons 4, you will be both building and managing your very own evil dungeon, complete with traps, monsters, loot, and other dangers! Or, it will be once you’ve built it. Dig up the earth to create rooms and assign them as gold storages, monster rooms, or any of the many other room types available. Emass gold and evilness, create even more and better traps and be ready to face the forces of “good” trying to destroy your Dungeonheart. Once you have enough money and evil, you can upgrade your rooms, power up your minions and unlock many more in the four research trees available: Dungeon, Horde, Demons, and Undead. The game is a sequel, so playing the earlier title, or at least Dungeons 3, is recommended, though you can jump into the game without any previous knowledge without too much confusion.

If you happen to have a friend with a heart as dark with evil as you, you can join forces in co-op, where you will be partners in crime, managing the dungeon in tandem. Will you work together to destroy the feeble forces of good, or will too many crooks bring only chaos? Only one way to find out! Co-op is available cross-platform and is synched to your solo campaign.

So far so Dungeons. Fear not, however, as Dungeons 4 has many new features to offer! First off, the deep corners of your dungeons may hold more than you bargained for: both secrets and dangers may lurk in the dark caverns. So beware before you dig! Additionally, the environment will play a larger role this time, as you may find elements to use to your advantage: use underground lakes to slow down your foes, or just push them into lava and laugh as they burn! Your ever-dedicated Thalya will now also gain strong passive abilities if you can meet their requirements. Beware, however, as you are no longer the master of the delve!

The dwarves will now conduct their own expeditions to the depths, building dungeons of their very own! Keep an eye out for their underground camps and be ready to protect what is yours! They may also try to get their grubby hands onto your hard-earned gold, so keep an extra vigilant eye on your storages.

The overworld is now bigger than ever and filled with new features. Your foes will send building crews to erect bases which you can intercept and the hated dwarves will also send parties of their own to vie for above-ground dominance! If you feel you could do with a spike of evilness, the overworld may contain Good Creatures, massive boss monsters just waiting to be toppled. They are not an easy target, however, so keep your wits about you!

Dungeons 4 offers a 20-map campaign to challenge even the most ruthless dungeon lord, adding up to 20+ hours of dungeon-themed fun, with some maps being four times as large as Dungeons 3! If you just want to hop into a level and get going, the game also has five skirmish maps to choose from. Dungeons 4 is unleashed on 9th November, so get ready! And remember, stay evil.
