How to Make a League of Legends PBE Account and Use It
The League of Legends Public Beta Environment has been a part of the game for a long time. Originally, this used to be a place where players with high honour and who had a good reputation were allowed — a common misconception still seen to this day — but at one point, Riot Games opened sign-ups to everyone in the world.
This has led to some confusion. Exciting times — such as the release of League of Legends Classic — see a surge of players wanting to partake in the PBE, and plenty of players don't know an account can be made for free. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to make a PBE account and use it in League of Legends:
- Visit the League of Legends PBE website (or click this link).
- Click on the SIGN UP FOR PBE button.
- Select "I don't have a Riot Account CREATE ONE".
- Input your email and hit "Next".
- Verify your email with the code sent to it.
- Input your birthdate (DD/MM/YYYY format).
- Select a username (must be unique, and it won't tell you until you try to agree to the Terms of Service).
- Select a password (must be Okay strength or better. Must be at least eight characters long. Must include at least two of the following three: letter, number, or symbol).
- Agree to the Terms of Service (you'll need to scroll to the bottom of the agreement in order to check the box).

Now that you have a PBE account, it's time to use it. In order to actually enter the public beta environment and partake in testing all sorts of content ahead of its live launch, you'll need to log out of your League of Legends account.
- Go to the Riot Client, and log off from whatever account you have connected (League, Valorant, 2XKO, you name it), and instead, log in using the same credentials as your new PBE account.
- Select League of Legends from the list of games, and click the small down arrow beside the "Play" button.
- Choose League of Legends PBE

This should now enable the download for the PBE-exclusive content, and once it's done, hitting "Play" should take you straight to the PBE. Please bear in mind that there is only one PBE server, so for players far away from the location, there will be a higher ping than in dedicated servers (NA, EUW, LAN, etc).
The League of Legends PBE gets updates one week before their launch on the live servers, as this is a testing environment where players give their feedback before it reaches millions of players. So it's a great way to playtest, though a lot of players like to make it their official home as well.
