How to Unlock All the Extra Characters in MARVEL Cosmic Invasion
So, you’ve started playing MARVEL Cosmic Invasion, and you’re wondering how and where to unlock the four shadowy characters in the roster. Here’s a guide to let you know where you can find each hero in stage order, and what you need to recruit them to your team.
PHOENIX
BLUE AREA OF THE MOON
The stage recommends Wolverine and Nova.
The Watcher informs you that Phoenix has been captured, and you need to save her. Since he cannot get involved, it is up to the two of you, but based on the insectoids lying on the ground burning, she didn’t go willingly.
At the end of the stage, you must fight against the Dark Phoenix, though Jean tries to take over at times. If you defeat her with Wolverine, you will complete one of the challenges and get a perk for your hero.
Phoenix puts up a barrier and dashes at you with her flaming phoenix power, which is hard to dodge. If you find the battle difficult, grab a friend or more, as they can jump in and play alongside you against this foe. With multiple heroes attacking, the fight becomes much easier!
Once she is defeated, you unlock Phoenix and Lockjaw the pup. You can’t fight as him, but he is an adorable side character!

VENOM
DESTROMUNDO
Recommended heroes for this stage are She-Hulk and Spider-Man.
This place resembles a creepy medical lab where they capture creatures and lock them up in tubes. At the end of the stage is where we find Venom, Eddie Brock, and the symbiote.
The battlefield has spider webs and broken glass cylinders in the background. Venom is not alone when he attacks you; various symbiotes pop up from the ground or drop down from the ceiling to grab and strike you. Not to mention the teeth that are flying symbiotes launched to hit you.
Venom can swing around the stage using a web like Spider-Man. He has a powerful symbiotic special move, and like Phylla-Vell, he can self-heal, so you need to keep attacking. This battle is very challenging, primarily because of the sheer amount of symbiote minions. Take advantage of She-Hulk’s Sonic Clap, performed by charging her primary attack; it launches a projectile at the enemy and lets you stand further back, and it does not require any special resource to use.
If you find this battle especially difficult, I suggest asking another player to join you or choosing two different characters you think would work better here. I personally like Captain America because of his shield, paired with a character who can fly and has a strong special attack, like Storm. Her tornadoes and lightning attacks are great for taking out all the smaller symbiotes while still dealing damage to Venom.

PHYLLA-VELL
HALA
The recommended heroes for this stage are Rocket Raccoon and Captain America.
Talk to the security system, which looks like Zordon from Power Rangers. He is very happy you have set him free. Unfortunately, he cannot completely disarm the incoming security forces, but he tells you to escape before they catch up to you. As you are about to leave, the insect-possessed form of Phylla-Vell shows up, and you have to fight her if you want any chance of escaping.
If you follow the recommended heroes, then you have Captain America. One of the most effective attack methods I found was knocking Phylla-Vell down with Captain America’s shield. One of her main attacks is slashing and dashing at you with her green sword. Be sure to continuously keep attacking, because if you give her a break, she will start to recover health.
Once defeated, the insect crawls off her face, and her outfit changes from green back to her regular red and blue. The parasite that infected her tries to escape; she kills it with her sword, and we hear the maniacal laugh of Thanos, whose stage is next.
Phylla-Vell, Protector of the Universe, is now unlocked.

SILVER SURFER
FORT GALACTUS
Recommended heroes: Cosmic Ghost Rider and Beta Ray Bill.
The first section of the stage has a lot of insectoids to defeat. Vehicles drive on-screen and can run you over, but you are shown exactly where they will go, so you can avoid them or attack as they come in. Soon after this, you face the Silver Surfer for the first time. There is a turret gun you can use against him, or you can use Beta Ray Bill’s hammer.
Galactus is looming in the background, but he still causes extra chaos in your fight. He breaks chunks of the earth and lifts them into the air, so don’t stand in the craters or you will be hit. It does not take long to defeat him, and once he’s down, the platform you were standing on with the turret starts moving upwards.
Sentinels and insectoids land on the platform, and you can use the turret against them. The great part is that you can knock them right off the edge. Soon, the Silver Surfer flies back in. He can shoot beams at you, and he swoops down on his board to strike you. But, like the weaker enemies and you, he can also be hit and fall, which doesn’t entirely make sense since he has a surfboard and can fly, but whatever works.
Once at the top, you continue with the stage. Destroy the strange alien-like purple pillars and pick up some purple Galactus-shaped ice lollies to replenish health before facing Silver Surfer for the third time. Since I had already been defeated a few times, I swapped Storm in for Cosmic Ghost Rider. I spammed her Wild Whirlwind move since it doesn’t cost anything to use, and since Storm can fly, I could hit Silver Surfer wherever he was without needing to get too close. Plus, when you have enough Focus, using a Thunderstorm works brilliantly. Alongside her, I had Beta Ray Bill and his Stormbreaker hammer, which you can suspend in the air, spinning to continuously hit enemies until you call it back.
Once you defeat Silver Surfer for the third time, the parasites controlling him are destroyed, and he will fight alongside you in your battle against Annihilus.

That’s the four extra characters you can unlock in MARVEL Cosmic Invasion. These heroes will be incredibly useful in your quest, and they are a lot of fun to use! I appreciate that characters we don’t usually get to play as, like Phylla-Vell and Silver Surfer, are included here.
