If It Was Real: Head Up Display

It has become customary in most games to have some form of Heads Up Display (HUD) whether this be to show you how much ammo is left in your gun, your health bar or how much money you’ve received from beating up prostitutes. Well, we at the GameGrin office were thinking about what aspects we would like to see in a real life HUD and the use that we could get from it. Here’s our top 5 things we would like to see on a real life HUD.

People’s Names

Ever been thrown into an awkward conversation with somebody who you met once briefly at a gathering? Then, to add insult to injury, they seem to know you’re entire life story and you can’t even remember their name let alone what their job and credit rating is. Well, you’re in luck because that’s one of the features of the GameGrin HUD! Never be left in the dark again as your HUD will use facial recognition software to scan this stranger's face and not only bring up the last time you met them and what you talked about but their latest Facebook updates and Tweets!

Important Dates

We all have calendars on our phones or computers, but who really uses them to their full extent? Sure, you set an alarm for some days but I find myself ignoring these fairly often. Well, with the GameGrin HUD, you’ll never forget a birthday, anniversary or day off work/ school ever again. Utilising revolutionary retina technology, the HUD will project alarms straight onto your field of vision. The more important the date, the larger the visual alarm. Never have to pick up some petrol station bouquet for your better half ever again!

Spidey Sense

Ever been walking down a dark alley at night and constantly looking over your shoulder? Ever been in the school cafeteria and always have one eye on the “bullies table”. Well, fear no more because with the GameGrin HUD, you can have senses like Spider-Man! The HUD will track the average speed of people around you and if anybody moves at a faster speed than this, you will be alerted to the fact, giving you enough time to move out of the way of danger!

The Time

Plain and simple; no need for watches anymore (unless you like it as a fashion accessory), you’ll always have the time easily displayable.

Bag Check

It’s such a pain when somebody asks you if you have a pen on you and you spend the next 10 minutes searching through what seems like an endless amount of junk you didn’t even know you had. Well, waste no more time with this tedious task! Whenever you put an item into your bag or pocket, the GameGrin HUD will track the placement and the item. Then, when you want to find said item or check if you have a certain item on your person, simply bring up the Bag Check on your HUD and perform a simple search!

These are just our top five ideas for a real-life HUD but if it was real, what would you like to see on them? How would you utilise this technology?
