Interesting MMO Side-Activities To Break Up That Grind AD

Interesting MMO Side-Activities To Break Up That Grind

MMOs are built upon the idea of the grind, the treadmill you keep walking because there is something nice at the end of it. Whether that’s a mount, a pretty dress or some jewelry for your human/cat/cow person to wear (I won’t judge).

Games are also supposed to be fun so a lot of games, including MMOs let you take a step off that treadmill for a while and visit either an actual casino or a stand-in for one to play some fun games and gamble some of your well earned cash for big rewards.

Star Trek Online Dabo

Star Trek Online

Fans of Deep Space Nine will be keenly aware of the Ferengi’s interest in a game called Dabo and Star Trek Online added the popular roulette-styled mini-game early on in the MMOs life.

Available to play at Drozana Station as well as Nimbus III and of course Quark’s on Deep Space Nine itself. The game sees you spinning a wheel composed of three parts trying to match colours and symbols on a specific slot for that big payout. In many ways it plays like a mix of roulette and a slot machine.

Guild Wars 2 Amnoon Casino

Guild Wars 2

The world of Guild Wars 2 doesn’t lend itself to high-tech games of skill and chance but the folk who live in the Free City of Amnoon didn’t let that stop them running fun events that reward Casino Coins you can exchange for adorable Choya themed goodies.

Every two hours you can try and collect as many Casino Coins as you can, succeed to reach the required quota over three rounds and you also get to smash an adorable Choya Pinata to pieces for even more coins.

SWTOR Nar Shaddaa

Star Wars: The Old Republic

Every summer the Nar Shaddaa Nightlife event kicks off on the Hutt’s notorious “Smuggler’s Moon”. The event has you keeping undesirables from the Star Cluster Casino whilst playing the slot machines to win both exclusive items and tokens you can exchange for some rather nice rewards including a Rancor mount and a Gamorrean companion.

There are two general kinds of slot machines that both have different odds of winning the Golden Certificates you need to hand in for the goodies. You can purchase tokens to play these but you also have a selection of quests that reward an initial batch once per character as well as a new rare world drop, the Emperor’s Casino Token that can be used on the Emperor’s Grace slot machine which is a new addition for 2020 with some unique rewards including the Kingpin’s Predator mount.

Fallout76 Rusty Pick2

Fallout 76

Whilst not an MMO in the traditional sense, Fallout 76 allows you to trade in unwanted legendary items for scrip which you can turn in to Murmrgh at the Rusty Pick for a chance at a random piece of legendary armour or a weapon. So many items in the game come from random drops from legendary creatures that it’s nice it lets you recycle unwanted items into another chance at something you actually do.

Most MMOs have multitudes of ways to spend your time but it’s kind of nice when they have minigames and side-activities to distract you from your day to day levelling or end-game routine. Do you have any activities you enjoy that are off the normal routine in MMOs you play? Let me know in the comments below!
