My Journey to 100% Haven Park

My Journey to 100% Haven Park

It's obvious that ever since I played A Short Hike, I have grown incredibly fond of games with the same vibe — even those that don't match it perfectly but still have to do with roaming through nature whilst a story unfolds passively, such as Firewatch.

Whenever I find a game that takes me down the same relaxing, fulfilling, and emotional journey, I end up 100%ing it, so I was incredibly excited to find yet another one! If you're looking for something to finish completely — or just want to find out how it went for me because you're curious — I'll tell you all about my journey to 100% Haven Park!

What’s The Game About?

Haven Park is an indie adventure exploration title where you take on the role of a young chick named Flint who is tasked with taking over the park his grandma has managed for many years! Throughout your journey, you build up campsites, decorate, and finish some quests given to you by the campers your hard work attracts.

Favourite Achievement

I really thought finding my favourite achievement was going to be easy, but then I found myself thinking, "ooh, this is it!" about three different times. Although Haven Park started off a bit slow because I failed to grasp the gameplay loop, the more into the game I went, the more in love I fell. So despite the multiple "this is the one" moments I had, my absolute favourite has to be Completionist — which means you have to finish all the quests on the main island!

Although it felt like a bit of a copout to choose this one because it involves multiple missions, the real reason I chose it was due to the phenomenal way it set up a beautiful climax — arriving to sit beside grandma at Pilgrim's Peak.

There are no words to describe how incredible it felt to have gone through such a journey throughout the entire map, helping people, fixing things, and completing tiny little adventures just to end it right at sunset with the last task — meet grandma. When I arrived, I was hit by a deep sense of fulfilment, and I knew right then and there that this was the one.

Least Favourite Achievement

I think the achievement I liked the least was Aquatic Explorer. There's nothing inherently wrong with it per se — I just felt that it being a hidden achievement made it less of a fun adventure and more of a frustrating hunt to find out how to unlock it. I think since I'd finished everything else and it was the very last one, it just felt a bit grindy and not on par with the rest of the great adventures!

Notable Mentions

I wish I could just say the rest of the achievements because I enjoyed them so much! But there are some that definitely stand out. As an example, I thoroughly enjoyed it when I finally had the epiphany of shooting myself out of the cannon and into the unreachable area! And it was that much more rewarding to finally realise it after such a long time when I got “Rocketman!”. And I absolutely love it when developers add silly tasks like getting on a swing or climbing the top of a shipwreck to unlock an achievement. Those are some of the best because they bring such a random sense of exploration and fun!

Was It Fun?

I thoroughly enjoyed getting the 100% on Haven Park! It really captured my heart in many moments throughout the journey, and it received a well-earned spot in my heart right next to Firewatch and A Short Hike. This is a game I will not be forgetting anytime soon!

Should You Do It?

Absolutely! Although the beginning was very sluggish for me, I think anyone who enjoyed A Short Hike will find a ton of charm in Haven Park; there's a lot to love in this game.
