The Best Open World Mini-Games And Guides For Each

Hundreds, if not thousands, of games are released every year. While there is generally much excitement surrounding the games, there’s also excitement about the mini-games. Mini-games are games within a game. For example, you could be playing a first-person shooter, and as part of the game, you’re required to shoot 50 empty bottles. You do this before you get back to the main game.

But what are the best mini-games out there and why are they so good? We’re going to look at this now:

Stardew Valley – Journey of the Prairie King

This mini-game is one of the best you can play. Similar to those 8-bit games of yesteryear, Stardew Valley is an arcade shooter. You are a cowboy and you have to fend off many enemies.

There is a range of weapons for you to choose from, and if you’re lucky enough to find some coffee, drink it. The coffee will allow you to shoot more quickly. It’s the coffee that could help you make your way through the game. You may die trying, but at least you’ll die with a smile on your face. Stardew Valley has a lot of nice graphics, good sound effects, and it’s a lot of fun.

Blackjack – Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2’s mini-game is perhaps one of the very best out there. You don’t need to be an expert in this card game to play, but a few blackjack tips could help. The object is to get cards that add up to 21, or as close to 21 as you can get. If you have more than 21, you lose. If the dealer’s hand is higher than yours, again, you lose.

Face cards carry 10 points, an ace can be one point or 11 points, the choice is yours. You can swap the value of the ace card as and when you wish. Doing so could help you to win this game.

The graphics in this blackjack mini-game are very good. You could become so immersed in them and the game that you forget about the main game. That’s the beauty of blackjack and the graphics.

Blackjack is pretty much a game of luck, but it’s exciting. Kudos to the makers of Red Dead Redemption 2 for including this mini-game.

Squid Beatz 2 – Splatoon 2

If you want to enjoy a mini-game that contains excellent music, this is the game to play. This arcade-like game is located in Inkopolis Square and is something of a rhythm game. Your job is to hit the right button at exactly the right time. It sounds simple, but it's actually a little more complicated than that.

You can unlock more tracks in the game, allowing you to try your hand at more songs. If you’re able to conquer the best, you win. Squid Beatz 2 can be played without needing to unlock it with an amiibo. You can simply play this game as and when you please.

Triple Triad - Final Fantasy VIII

Another card game seems to have taken the mini-game world by storm. This time it’s Triple Triad, and it’s a game that many people have struggled with. However, it’s quite popular with those who know how to play it and have succeeded at it. When you win a game, you get the chance to take on other people.

This game revolves around a three-by-three grid. Each card depicts one of the players and every unit has different elements and stats. You may need to use a spell so that you can get used to the game. However, once you know what’s what, you could find yourself playing for hours.

Crash Bandicoot - Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Lovers of Crash Bandicoot will love this mini-game. Found in Uncharted 4, you can play Crash Bandicoot on the PlayStation. You have the opportunity to play a whole level of this game and you have to beat Elena’s score. This is a great way to bring two classic games together and introduce Crash Bandicoot to those who are yet to experience it.

All that you need to do is jump, dodge and spin when you need to, so you and Crash reach the end of the level. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? It isn’t, but it is a lot of fun.

As you can see, there are some great mini-games available. Adding a spot of variety to the main game, mini-games take you on even more adventures than you imagined.
