Top Indie Game Releases for May 2022

Welcome to another exciting month for Indie Game releases in May. This month I am on my own since Artura is busy, but I am here to show you five releases that I am super excited for and can’t wait to check out!

Trek to Yomi — 5th of May

Trek To Yomi MAin Title Art2

This game looks like a classic Akira Kurosawa movie; it is in black and white, giving it a real classic movie feel. You take on the role of a young swordsman named Hiroki, who has made a vow to his dying master that he will protect his town and the people he loves no matter the threat.

Besides looking beautiful, you experience Hiroki's struggle with tragedy and loss while keeping his promise as a samurai. I can’t wait to take down the enemies that threaten the village in a game that looks like you are in a movie!

Salt and Sacrifice — 10th of May

Salt and Sacrifice 1536x2

Salt and Sacrifice is the follow up to Salt and Sanctuary which came out in 2016. This title has a beautiful 2D art style and soulslike platforming gameplay. A kingdom is being attacked by waves of Mages and it is up to the Marked Inquisitors to stand against the threat of the Mages and their Magic.

I haven’t got a chance to check out the original game, but it’s a cult classic and I’m looking forward to trying it out!

Dungeons of Dreadrock — 12th of May

dungeonstitle2

In this throwback to old-school retro dungeon crawlers and RPGs, you play as a young boy whose brother has been chosen to fight and defeat the King of the Mountain. To save your brother from being sacrificed you will have to reach the Dead King’s crypt by fighting enemies, avoiding traps, and solving puzzles to get through the 100 levels taking you through Dreadrock Mountain.

With great-looking graphics, clever puzzles, and a huge variety of enemies to kill, Dungeons of Dreadrock looks to be a ton of challenging fun that will work your brain!

Souldiers — 19th of May

souldiers2

I had a chance to check out Souldiers during the last Steam Next Fest and it was great! It looks and controls like a SNES game, with a story that has soldiers seemingly getting killed in battle but meeting a goddess who will give them a chance to return back to their lives. Trapped in a fantasy world between the lands of the living and dead, this Metroidvania has you exploring, solving puzzles, and fighting your way back to the living world.

I am so excited to play more of this story and explore the world of the dead to come back to life. With great graphics and music, this is a must-play for me!

Golf Gang — 27th of May

Golf Gang Main Art2

Tired of the normal way of playing minigolf? Who needs a putter when you can become the ball? It’s a mad dash to get to the cup before your friends in this zany game. You can customise everything from the golf course to your ball character with crazy accessories, hats, and faces.

This looks like it will be a blast to play with a group of friends or family! I’m sure a lot of yelling and screaming will occur!
