Agents of Mayhem's Position in the Saints Row Universe Confirmed
The official Agents of Mayhem Twitter account was replying to people commenting on a t-shirt giveaway, and wound up confirming the new IP's place within the larger Saints Row universe -- or rather, multiverse.
@OhSaintYT Agents of Mayhem spins out of one of the endings of Gat out of Hell, and is part of a bigger Saints multiverse.

This means that all of the Saints Row games happened, but probably not in the same universe as Agents of Mayhem. However, there will no doubt be plenty of easter eggs scattered around.
A short time later, they also confirmed which ending was canonical in Saints Row: Gat out of Hell, which had five different ones.
@OhSaintYT Exactly. Agents of Mayhem is an alternate timeline based on that ending where God resets the universe.

There is still no word on when Agents of Mayhem is going to be released, but it should hit PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime this year.

I'm REALLY looking forward to this. Volition basically getting to play in a reset universe with new toys and characters should be a lot of fun.

So this is kind of a Saint's Row reboot then? Or is it a spin off and the Saint's Row series will continue as well?

Since this is part of the multiverse, I can see a future title of Agents of Mayhem vs Saints Row, where this rebooted "Police" universe goes up against the "Find a new planet for humanity" universe.
After all, the series has been getting more and more like a comic book, so pitting two teams from different universes against each other is perfectly on track.
