Black Mesa Sees the Launch of Xen Pushed Back, Again

The Half-Life remake, Black Mesa, has seen another delay in the release of the Xen portion of the game.

What started life as a fan-made mod became a full-blown Steam release sometime back and entered early access almost three years ago. As part of the release the development team made players aware that the Xen wouldn't be included. Now though comes the announcement that Xen is still not ready. Thankfully though the team have promised an update on this portion of the game next month to give players a better idea of when it will be ready.

On a positive note though, the development team will be releasing a major update next month that will bring with it plenty of new features and updates to improve the game. This includes Lens Flares, Dynamic Lights, Dynamic Shadows, 4 Way Texture Blends, Image Based Ambient Lighting and Godrays. These updates will not just give the game a major visual overhaul but also been it up to par with current games. You can see an example of how it will look in the image below.

At the end of the update post the development team note that in the coming weeks they will have additional news to share both on the status of Xen and the game as a whole. For now though, players will need to wait a bit longer to experience Xen.

Black Mesa is available now on Steam early access.
