Brotato's All Pain No Gain Update is Available in Beta!

Brotato's All Pain No Gain Update is Available in Beta!

Developed and published by Blobfish, Brotato is a top-down arena shooter roguelite where players will embody a potato protagonist who can wield up to six weapons at a time!

Recently, the team posted on Steam that the All Pain No Gain update is on beta, and it's available for players to try out, which brings:

  • A new difficulty above Danger 5: Nightmare Difficulty.
  • A new character: The Wounded.
  • A new weapon: the Railgun.

The new difficulty has environmental projectiles, which are bullets that slowly increase in speed and quantity. Players will also have to deal with fog that obscures visibility during specific waves! This can only be unlocked after beating Danger 5!

Another great way to up the challenge is the new character, Wounded. This potato dies in one hit and starts the run with a Tardigrade and the stats of Well-Rounded. To make matters more dire for this new protagonist, it cannot benefit from health regen! They can be unlocked by beating Nightmare difficulty with any character and on any map.

A good match for Wounded is the new weapon, Rail Gun, which increases its damage every five seconds that the player hasn't taken a hit. Each wave, this bonus gets reset! To unlock it, players need to beat the game with Wounded on any difficulty.

In addition to this, there are some quality-of-life features that have been added, too:

  • Character selection has a random zone option now.
  • The death screen now shows what killed the player.
  • Accessibility colour settings affect upgrade icons now.

Check out all the changes and fixes in the Steam post!

Before we explain how to access the beta branch, we thought it important to leave a quick warning here: deactivate and unsubscribe from all mods, as this can cause corrupted saves and cause crashes. Progress made in the beta will also not carry over!

  • If you'd like to join Brotato's No Pain No Gain beta branch:
  • Go to the Steam Library.
  • Right-click on Brotato.
  • Go to Properties.
  • Select Game Version and Betas.
  • Click the drop-down menu and select Beta, under Beta Participation.

Brotato is available now!
