Destiny 2 XP Scaling System Removed from the Game

Destiny 2 XP Scaling System Removed from the Game

You might not have known this but recently it was discovered by players that Destiny 2 has a built in system to scale experience earned. This system depends on the rate at which the XP is being earned and following this, Bungie have announced it's being turned off.

The system would work by scaling XP rewards upwards when playing “longer or fixed duration activities like Crucible competitive multiplayer matches and the Leviathan Raid,” but would scale down when playing “activities that can be quickly, repeatedly chained, like grinding Public Events.” This results in players not earning as much experience as they think they are and since its reveal, has left many unhappy.

Bungie have now, with immediate effect, turned the system off as the team is "not happy with the results" noting the unhappy response from players. This means that players will now see a change across the whole game in terms of how much XP they are earning, with the UI now correctly matching the value. As the team at Bungie continue to watch the system and review the data we can likely expect an update in the coming days.

Destiny 2 is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The Iron Banner event is still underway until the 28th November.
