DLC Increases Age-Rating of Total War: WARHAMMER

If you're a gamer of a certain age, then you'll remember all the furore surrounding blood in Mortal Kombat in 1992. A version of the game was produced for each of the two most popular 16-bit consoles, the Mega Drive and SNES, but in both cases all of the blood and gore from the arcade game was stripped out. Although the SNES version was seen as being technically superior, the Mega Drive version had a trick up its sleeve: a cheat that would enable blood. Because of this, Sega's version outsold Nintendo's considerably.

Fast forward to 2016 and we can see a similar thing happening with Total War: WARHAMMER. Whist the game is set on a battlefield, there is a large player base who are under 18, so Sega are taking the safe route by making the base game less violent. This time round though, instead of a cheat code, it's DLC that will enable all the violence. £1.99 will get you an addon that sees giants biting the heads off of humans, severed limbs and entire armies being eviscerated by dragon tails.  It goes without saying though, that this DLC brings the game's age-rating up to 18, so remember to be careful if there are humans of the younger kind in your household.
