Dragon Age: Inquisition Box Art Revealed

Dragon Age: Inquisition Box Art Revealed

After a period of radio silence, Bioware has finally released the official box art for Dragon Age: Inquisition, the third and final installment in the Dragon Age trilogy.

The art features the player character Inquisitor in the centre, and a dragon silhouette (something of a theme) created out of the negative space.

It all looks pretty apocalyptic, and given that Dragon Age II ends with the near destruction of a city and preludes an all out civil war, it seems appropriate. Perhaps most interesting is the choice to position the Inquisitor with their back to the viewer and in full armor, neatly sidestepping the issue of creating a "default" character design for a game that emphasises players' abilities to customise nearly every part of their experience.

(If you can't see the dragon, the head is formed by the cloud/mob of demons, centred under the "is" of Inquisition.)

Picking up after the end of Dragon Age II, players take on the role of a Chantry (Thedas' predominant religious institution) Inquisitor, cleverly referred to as the Inquisitor, who is tasked with finding the truth about the dangerous conflict between the mages and templars, who have apparently broken away from the Chantry in order to fight the mages. As with most Bioware games, player choices in previous games will effect aspects of Inquisition, although the studio is still wrangling with how they will transfer this data for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players.

While there is still no official release date, the game is set to drop sometime this fall on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Recent twitter posts have indicated that the entire game is currently playable, however, and the development team is currently working on debugging and improvements, and it seems possible a release date may be announced in the near future.

After being told dragontamer is "not a real job", she settled for being a word typer-upper. Finally got those San Diego Comic Con tickets.
